Investigating δ13C values in stalagmites from tropical South America for the last two millennia

Due to the many factors controlling δ13C values in stalagmites, complicating their paleoclimatic and paleoenvironmental interpretation, most studies do not present values, but instead focus mainly on δ18O values. This is also case for cave from tropical South America, where new stalagmite records covering last millennia were recently published. Here, we review investigating influence this proxy of local hydroclimate, altitude, temperature vegetation types, by employing a dataset composed published unpublished carbon isotope various sites America. The main influencing are associated with followed minor effects temperature. Most isotopic show significant correlation between indicating close relationship hydroclimate atmospheric convective processes related American Monsoon System.
